EQUIS accreditation
KBS became the first institution in Japan to receive EQUIS accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development, a highly regarded European quality assessment organization.
The Graduate School of Business Administration, Keio University (Keio Business School, hereinafter KBS) became the first business school in Japan to be EQUIS-accredited (European Quality Improvement System) on April 12, 2011. EQUIS, the leading international system of quality assessment, quality improvement, and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration, is run by EFMD (the European Foundation for Management Development).
EFMD, an international membership organization based in Brussels,aims to continually improve the quality of management development educationby providing a unique forum for information-sharing, research, and networking among educational institutions and corporations. EMFD runs EQUIS, an accreditation system that assesses the quality of the entire management education institution. EQUIS accreditation has been awarded to 128 institutions in 36 countries,mostly in Europe.
KBS is the first educational institution to be granted EQUIS accreditation in Japan. Accredited since 2000 by AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) the U.S.-based quality assessment organization, KBS is now recognized in Europe and the United States as having the education and research capabilities, faculty, students, and alumni that meet global standards of management development.
These international accreditations further establish KBS and its alumni as key players in our highly global society. In order to nurture excellent managers who will accelerate the internationalization of business society, KBS is determined to further enhance its educational and research activities, and to actively participate in business school communities in Japan and around the world.
